2024 ‘Smoking Free Lung Festival’ to be held to communicate with the MZ generation through music
The Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Cho Kyu-hong) and the Korea Health Promotion Development Institute (President Kim Heon-ju) announced that they will hold a ‘Smoking Free Lung Festival’ at the ‘Rabbit 2024’ music festival held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in Incheon from Saturday, September 21 to Sunday, September 22.
The ‘Smoking Free Lung Festival’, which began in 2019, is a campaign that seeks contact with the younger generation every year to spread a smoking cessation culture at music festivals. This year, it will be held at ‘Rabbit 2024’, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and many visitors are expected to come as famous artists are scheduled to perform.
‘RAPBEAT 2024’: Held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in Incheon from September 21st (Sat) to 22nd (Sun), it is a music festival of various genres such as hip-hop, rock, and K-pop. 35 teams including Park Jae-beom, Nas, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Jang Ki-ha are scheduled to perform.
This ‘Smoking Free Lung Festival’ will be held on-site in conjunction with the youth smoking prevention campaign that started on August 26th, and the ‘Saying No to Smoking’ campaign will be held on-site, where participants can create songs with the No to Smoking message themselves. Participants can use the tablet PC or personal smartphone provided at the promotional booth to write No to Smoking lyrics that their friends or family members want, and then the AI sound source generation technology can instantly create and spread the No to Smoking song. Various genres such as K-POP, hip-hop, and ballads can be selected, allowing the MZ generation to happily express and share the No to Smoking message.
The ‘Saying No to Smoking’ campaign, which is being carried out as part of this year’s youth smoking prevention campaign, is a digital-based participatory campaign that aims to spread the No to Smoking message by adding fun and creativity through music. This campaign will be carried out until November of this year, and you can participate at any time on the campaign site (nodam.kr).
In addition, there will be an opportunity to take and share a photo of yourself as a proof of quitting smoking with friends who visited the festival together. The ‘Smoking-Free Lung Festival’ promotional booth will distribute disposable tattoo stickers with the message ‘I wish you were #NoDam’. By attaching these tattoo stickers, taking a commemorative photo at the photo booth, and sharing the proof shot on your personal SNS, you will emphasize your initiative in spreading the smoking-free culture.
Baek Taek, Director of Health Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “The No Smoking Lung Festival is held regularly every year to promote the No Smoking culture to the MZ generation,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent smoking in future generations.”
Kim Heon-ju, director of the Korea Health Promotion Development Institute, said, “This smoking cessation lung festival was planned to expand the digital no-smoking campaign offline to induce more interest and participation, and we will work hard to communicate effectively with young people in the future.”
