Korea-UAE leaders agree to cooperate to strengthen ‘special strategic partnership’
President Lee Jae-myung had his first phone call with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the afternoon of the 1st since taking office, Spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung announced in a written briefing.
President Lee expressed his gratitude for President Mohammed’s congratulations on his inauguration and expressed his hope that the “special strategic partnership” between Korea and the UAE will be further strengthened with the launch of our new government.

The two leaders shared the need to expand the bilateral relationship, which is developing in all directions based on mutual trust, into more strategic and future-oriented areas, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as AI, advanced technology, national defense and defense industry, and nuclear power plants.
In addition, the two leaders agreed to meet in person at the APEC summit and other occasions to discuss specific cooperation measures to enhance bilateral relations.
