Central Regional Forest Service Conducts Field Inspection of Regulatory Innovation in the Forestry Sector

On the 27th, the Central Regional Forest Service conducted a regulatory innovation regional monitoring to check the on-site implementation performance of forestry sector system improvements at the Daejeon City Korea Nursery Association and the Korea Forest Soil and Stone Association.
The Korea Forest Service has been promoting regulatory reforms with high sensibility to support the income of forestry workers, such as ▲ increasing the unit price of direct forestry payments and easing the number of working days, ▲ expanding the areas of wild ginseng that can be used as food ingredients, and ▲ supporting drone pest control of chestnut trees.
At this event, we actively informed the public of the fact that foreign workers can now be permanently employed by forestry seed producers (corporations), that the unit price for direct forestry payments has been increased (KRW 1.2 million → KRW 1.3 million), and that the number of work days eligible for payment has been relaxed (KRW 90 → KRW 60), and we listened to requests for improvement.
This year, the Korea Forest Service plans to identify and improve unnecessary regulations in four key areas: rationalization of mountain use, easing of entry barriers, improvement of forestry management conditions, and support for regional development. In line with this, the Central Regional Forest Service plans to conduct monthly regional monitoring of regulatory innovation.
Lim Seon-hyeok, head of the Operational Asset Management Team, said, “We will work to ensure that foresters and organizations can experience the regulatory improvements in a practical way and establish them stably in the field.”
