Government provides emergency support of 2.5 billion won in special education tax to Gyeonggi and Chungnam regions suffering from heavy rain damage

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 17th that it will provide emergency disaster and safety management special grants worth 2.5 billion won to Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheongnam-do, which have suffered damage from the heavy rain that has fallen since this week.

In addition, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to consider additional support if the damage scale increases as the heavy rain situation continues.

This support was decided to ensure the rapid recovery of the affected areas, and will be mainly used to prevent secondary damage, such as emergency recovery of damaged facilities and relief for the displaced.

Accordingly, local governments plan to actively utilize the ‘use before budget establishment’ system according to the ‘Local Finance Act’ to quickly execute the budget.

Acting Minister of the Interior and Safety Kim Min-jae said, “Local governments and related organizations should make every effort to minimize inconvenience to residents in the affected areas for emergency recovery,” and requested, “Please check the weather conditions and disaster information frequently, and if you are in an area at risk of flooding or landslides, please evacuate to a safe place in advance.”
