‘RE100 Industrial Complex’ Inter-Ministry TF Launched… Special Law Draft Prepared
The government has announced the full-scale start of the RE100 industrial complex development.
On the 16th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the first meeting of the joint task force of related ministries in the conference room of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish a plan for the RE100 industrial complex development.
The RE100 industrial complex task force was formed to discuss the detailed implementation plan and special law proposal for the RE100 industrial complex, which was reported as the government’s top priority policy task at the senior secretary meeting chaired by the president on the 10th.

The first meeting was chaired by the First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and attended by directors-general of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the meeting, the participants decided to specify the tasks of each ministry in the areas of establishing renewable energy infrastructure, attracting companies and establishing settlement conditions, and developing industrial complexes and establishing infrastructure for the successful establishment of the RE100 industrial complex.
In particular, the task force decided to focus its capabilities on establishing essential incentive measures for attracting investment from cutting-edge companies, such as a business environment with zero regulations in principle, attractive education and settlement conditions, and strong electricity rate reduction measures.
The government decided to hold regular task force meetings every two weeks, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with the goal of establishing a plan for establishing the RE100 industrial complex and enacting a special law within the year.
First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Jae-in emphasized, “RE100, which is becoming a necessary element for export companies, should be viewed as an opportunity rather than a regulation to promote balanced regional development and energy transition using renewable energy,” and added, “We will work with relevant ministries to explore all policy tools to create a plan for the rapid creation of RE100 industrial complexes.”
