Cheongju City – Promoting Exchanges with Paris Eastern Administrative District, France
Cheongju City announced on the 6th that it will pursue exchanges with the Paris Eastern administrative region of France.
Mayor Lee Beom-seok of Cheongju and Mayor Julian Baye Saint-Mandésy, vice-president of the Paris Eastern Administrative Region delegation who visited Cheongju that day, agreed to join forces to promote knowledge-sharing economy and exchange and cooperation among young people.
This meeting was held at the request of the Paris East administrative region, which is looking for new exchange cities in the Asian region.
The Paris East administrative region is a federation of 13 municipalities and is one of the 12 ‘Metropole du Grand Paris’, which is an intercity cooperative body. The region is a transportation hub connected to France’s major highways and railways, and is home to various research institutes from academia, industry, and research, such as the National Institute of Geography and the Food Sanitation Agency, and is considered one of France’s innovative regions with a diverse industrial ecosystem.
Vice President Julian Bay said, “I hope that the two cities with diverse industrial ecosystems can cooperate in various fields,” and Mayor Lee Beom-seok responded, “Exchanges with the Paris East administrative region will have synergy effects in various ways.”
