K-Pet Products Prove Their ‘Competitiveness’ at Thailand Pet Expo
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Song Mee-ryung) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT, President Hong Moon-pyo) participated in the Korean pavilion at the ‘Pet Fair SE Asia’ held in Bangkok, Thailand from October 30 to November 1, and achieved export consultation results worth 40 million dollars, widely publicizing the competitiveness of the domestic pet industry in the Thai and Southeast Asian markets.
‘Thailand Pet Expo’ is the largest B2B expo in Southeast Asia, now in its third year. In line with the recent rapid growth of the pet industry, many countries, including Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy, participated in the form of national pavilions. Seminars on the pet industry were held as side events, providing an opportunity to understand the global pet market trends.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and aT organized a Korean pavilion with 26 excellent companies representing the Korean pet industry to showcase various pet foods, healthcare products, and supplies. In particular, they set up a promotion hall where exporters’ products could be seen at a glance to intensively promote the excellence of their products, and as a result of actively arranging buyer consultations, they achieved export consultation results worth a total of 40 million dollars.
Thai buyers who visited the Korean Pavilion said, “We were impressed by the diversity of Korean pet products,” and “We plan to consider handling many products that are differentiated from those already sold in the Thai market, and we are very satisfied to have discovered a new business opportunity.”
aT Export Food Director Kwon Oh-yeop said, “Through our participation in this exhibition, we have confirmed that excellent Korean pet products are receiving a lot of attention in Southeast Asian markets including Thailand,” and “We plan to actively support K-pet product companies so that they can secure greater competitiveness in the global market beyond Thailand.”
