aT, Expanding Korea’s Food Territory through K-Food Exports!
On October 29, the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT, President Hong Moon-pyo) held a ‘K-Food Export Expansion Meeting’ with major export companies by product at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, to exceed this year’s agricultural, fisheries and food product export target of $13.5 billion and aim to reach $15 billion next year.
This meeting was attended by 13 companies in charge of major export items such as fresh agricultural products such as pears and persimmons, ginseng, rice processed foods, and pet food. The participants shared export trends by item and year-end export plans, and proposed various tasks for expanding exports.
This year, despite difficult conditions such as decreased production due to climate change, agricultural, fishery and food product exports achieved the record-breaking $10 billion in exports in the shortest period of time ever, thanks to resolution of on-site difficulties and various export support measures.
In particular, the fourth quarter is the peak export season for fresh agricultural products such as strawberries, pears, apples, and persimmons, which are directly related to farm income. Accordingly, aT plans to focus on various marketing activities such as promoting K-food in connection with the Korean Wave and online and offline sales promotions to spur export expansion at the end of the year.
Hong Moon-pyo, CEO of aT, emphasized, “The export of our country’s agricultural, marine, and food products increases the income of farmers and fishermen, expands the demand for Korean food to the world, and expands the territory of Korean food,” and “We will listen to and resolve various issues in the export field to continuously lead the increase in K-food exports and create a Republic of Korea where rural and fishing villages and farmers and fishermen prosper.”
Meanwhile, President Hong is leading changes and innovations to carry out more effective support projects in the export field by holding expert advisory reports on various business innovations, such as the reorganization of aT’s overseas organization network, prior to the meeting.
