Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to hold Hanbok fashion show at Korea House for the 2024 Paris Olympics
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in cooperation with the Korea Crafts and Design Foundation (Director Jang Dong-gwang, hereinafter referred to as Gong Jin-won), held ‘Korea Day’ in the garden inside the Paris Olympic Korea House (Maison de la Chemi) on August 1. ‘ As a preliminary event, a Hanbok fashion show was held to publicize the charm of Hanbok to the world.
This fashion show, planned with the theme of ‘A young girl’s outing on a midsummer day,’ imagined a girl who participated in the 1900 Paris World’s Fair visiting Korea House at the ‘2024 Paris Olympics.’ In this way, based on the long relationship between Paris and Korea, we congratulated the performance of the Korean Olympic team and delivered a message wishing them victory.
Stylist Seo Young-hee oversaw the production of the fashion show as the art director, and seven domestic hanbok designers including Kim Young-jin, Kim In-ja, Kim Ji-won, Kim Hye-sun, Song Hye-mi, Yoo Hyeon-hwa, and Lee Hye-sun (in alphabetical order) participated. Together with 20 local models from Paris, they presented a variety of hanbok, themed as formal clothes worn in Korean traditional ceremonies, on an outdoor stage.
