Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs promises to improve agricultural cooperation and expand opportunities with Vietnam
Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong met with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Ming Hoan in Seoul on July 2 and requested cooperation to allow more Korean companies to enter the Vietnamese market.
Vietnam is the country to which our agricultural products are exported the most, following Japan, China, and the United States. Korea ranks second in exports to Vietnam in the fields of veterinary medicine and fertilizers, respectively, making it an important trading partner in the agricultural field.
Minister Song Mi-ryeong said, “As the relationship between Korea and Vietnam has been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022, we expect agricultural cooperation to deepen further,” adding, “We hope to ease import regulations to expand the entry of Korean agricultural products and agricultural equipment into the Vietnamese market.” The Minister requested active cooperation.
Minister Ho An hoped to attract private investment in Vietnam’s agricultural sector to strengthen smart agriculture and sustainable food systems. In response, Minister Song indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will support through multilateral cooperation and will continue to support Vietnam through official development assistance (ODA). He added, “I hope that opportunities for our companies to participate in Vietnam’s agricultural and rural development process will be further expanded.”
