Traveling This Summer? Get a ‘Lodging Discount Coupon’ and Explore Korea… 400,000 Vouchers to Be Distributed

Special Lodging Discounts for Disaster-Affected Regions, Including Wildfires and the 12/29 Plane Crash – Up to 50,000 KRW Off

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, will launch the “2025 Korea Summer Lodging Sale Festa” starting May 28, aiming to encourage domestic travel and revitalize regional economies ahead of the summer holiday season.

The event will distribute a total of 400,000 lodging discount coupons, including a “Special Regional Edition” in partnership with 13 provincial governments, a “Main Edition” for non-metropolitan areas, and a “Special Disaster Area Edition” for regions affected by recent wildfires and the December 29 plane crash.

The “Special Regional Edition” will be the first to launch, offering discounts from May 28 to 30. Travelers booking accommodations worth 70,000 KRW or more in the 13 participating regions—Gangwon, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan, Ulsan, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Jeju, Chungnam, and Chungbuk—will receive 50,000 KRW off.

The “Main Edition” will run from June 2 to July 17, targeting accommodations in areas outside of the Seoul Metropolitan Area (excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon). Discounts include 30,000 KRW off for bookings over 70,000 KRW and 20,000 KRW off for bookings between 20,000 and 70,000 KRW.

Notably, the “Special Disaster Area Edition” will provide enhanced support to regions heavily impacted by wildfires and the 12/29 plane crash. From June 18 to July 17, 100,000 discount coupons will be distributed in 10 designated regions (Sancheong, Hadong, Andong, Yeongdeok, Yeongyang, Uiseong, Cheongsong, Ulju, Muan, and Gwangju). These coupons offer 50,000 KRW off for bookings over 70,000 KRW, and 30,000 KRW off for bookings under 70,000 KRW.

Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis (1 per person) through participating online travel agencies starting at 10:00 a.m. on May 28. Once distributed, coupons must be used to book and pay for accommodations between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. the next day. Unused coupons will expire but can be reissued the following morning.

The coupons are valid for check-in between June 5 and July 17 for the “Special Regional Edition” and “Main Edition”, and between June 18 and July 31 for the “Special Disaster Area Edition”. Eligible accommodations include hotels, resorts, condominiums, and pensions; hourly rental properties and unregistered facilities are excluded.

Even those who participated in the February–March Lodging Sale Festa may join again. However, users who redeem a coupon from the “Special Regional Edition” are not eligible to receive coupons from the “Main” or “Disaster Area” editions.

More details are available on the 2025 Korea Lodging Sale Festa official website or by calling the hotline at 1670-3980.

Kim Geun-ho, Director of Tourism Industry Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said “This event not only helps reduce travel expenses for the public, but also encourages visits to regions suffering from recent disasters. We hope many people will take part in this meaningful initiative.”
