Ministry of Health and Welfare accepts applications for designation as a health and welfare-type preliminary social enterprise in 2024.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will accept applications for designation as a health and welfare-type preliminary social enterprise in 2024. Minister Cho Kyu-hong said the application period is scheduled to run from June 20 to July 16.
A health and welfare-type prospective social enterprise is a company directly designated by the Minister of Health and Welfare to discover and foster entrepreneurs who seek to realize social value in the health and welfare field. These companies are selected as candidates for social enterprise certification, and the preliminary social enterprise designation is valid for three years.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare introduced this system in 2012 and designated 216 companies as health and welfare-type preliminary social enterprises by 2023, and 55 of them succeeded in receiving certification as social enterprises.
In order to be designated as a health and welfare type preliminary social enterprise, several requirements must be met in some of the projects under the Ministry of Health and Welfare (health, childcare and care, social welfare, housework and nursing, etc.).
This application will be reviewed through an on-site inspection and review committee of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, and will be finally designated as a health and welfare-type preliminary social enterprise in October.
