Ministry of Science and ICT Strengthens Quantum Science and Technology Cooperation Network with 17 Countries

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to strengthen the quantum science and technology cooperation network with 100 people from 17 countries through ‘Quantum Korea 2025’, which is being held from the 24th, and to lay the foundation for leaping forward as a global quantum cooperation hub.
Accordingly, six international cooperation events will be held at ‘Quantum Korea 2025’, which will be held at the Yangjae aT Center until the 26th.
This international cooperation event was prepared to connect Korea’s quantum technology ecosystem with the global network and expand the foundation for international cooperation in line with the ‘International Year of Quantum Science and Technology’ designated by the UN.
In particular, a roundtable between countries and institutions and a joint seminar for four countries will be held to establish a close cooperation system with major countries such as Denmark, the European Union, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United States, and a workshop co-hosted by the OECD and the Ministry of Science and ICT will also be held.
On the second day, the 25th, following the first day of the opening, a networking lunch event called ‘Quantum Dialogue’ was held.
Director Ryu Kwang-joon of the Science and Technology Innovation Headquarters attended as a representative of the Korean government, and about 100 government, industry, academia, and research experts from 17 countries, including the EU, the US, India, Denmark, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, the UK, and OECD, and embassy officials in Korea attended.
Prior to the event, Director Ryu visited the international research and industry exhibition and representative booths at home and abroad, such as the Korea Standards Institute, KAIST, SDT, IBM, KT, and Quandela, to review global research and development achievements and technology trends and flows, and to encourage the participants.
During the Quantum Korea 2025 event, roundtables were actively held between countries and organizations as a stepping stone for expanding the global quantum cooperation network.
First, on the morning of the 24th, the first day of the event, the ‘Korea-EU Roundtable’ was held with experts from both sides, including the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the EU DG CNECT, and QuantERA (Pan-European Network of Quantum Technology Research Support Agencies), to actively discuss the latest policy and program trends in the quantum technology field between the two countries and the expansion of cooperation between governments.
In particular, the roundtable on this day is expected to serve as an opportunity to accelerate quantum technology cooperation with EU member states in connection with Korea’s accession to QuantERA last month.
In addition, the ‘Korea-US QED-C Roundtable’ was held on the afternoon of the 24th as a venue for networking and seeking cooperation opportunities between quantum companies from both Korea and the US.
The event on this day was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which is in charge of fostering quantum science and technology and industry in Korea, and the Quantum Economic Development Consortium of the US.
