There are speculations that a ground operation is imminent as Israel has ordered its citizens near the Gaza Strip to evacuate while continuing to fight with the Palestinian armed faction Hamas through counter-air strikes.

The British daily Guardian reported on the 10th (local time) that Israel notified its citizens near Gaza the night before to prepare for evacuation and to prepare enough food, water, and other supplies for 72 hours.

The Guardian interpreted this as a clear signal that a ground operation into the Gaza Strip was imminent.

Earlier in the day, a spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that hundreds of tons of bombs had already been dropped on the Gaza Strip and that “the emphasis is on damage, not accuracy.”

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), an American daily newspaper, also reported that the Israeli military is calling up 300,000 reservists ahead of ground operations in the Gaza Strip and has also strengthened airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reported that Israel’s Highway 232, which runs along the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, appears to have become a new front for both sides.

On the morning of the 10th, air strikes and artillery sounds were heard in the area surrounding this road, Israeli tanks passed by, and military helicopters were seen flying overhead.

In addition, traces of intense fighting were revealed around the road, including the bodies of those who appeared to be Hamas fighters and cars destroyed by shelling left abandoned.

The British BBC reported that as Israel strengthens its air strikes, there is no longer a safe zone in the Gaza Strip.

Gaza residents explain that although there were some safe zones during the past fighting, it is different now.

Some residents are taking refuge underground and others are trapped inside as buildings collapse.
