80th Anniversary Police, Study on Uniform Design Changes Begins

The police announced on the 1st that they have started researching changes to the uniform design in preparation for the 80th anniversary in 2025.

It was reported that the plan is to secure the functionality of the field police and mobile police uniforms and pursue a ‘balanced design’ that eliminates disharmony between the uniforms.

The Department of Fashion Design at Kookmin University and designers Kye Han-hee and Jo Eun-hye will be in charge of the joint research.

Kim Seung-hyun, a professor at Kookmin University, said, “The image of police officers in the field is represented by vests and equipment for field work that have not been professionally designed,” and announced that he would increase activity and convenience by applying new technologies to materials and methods, and bring out the harmony between the replicas and equipment.

A 12-member external advisory committee for police uniform improvement was also appointed, including four designers, four clothing professors, and four fashion experts.

Acting Police Commissioner Lee Ho-young said, “Considering the speed at which science and technology are evolving, now is the time to review the cloning of police officers in the field.”
