K-Infrastructure, Central Asia… Korea-Uzbekistan, Strengthening Cooperation in Transportation and Urban Development

□ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport ( Minister Park Sang-woo) plans to dispatch a support team led by First Vice Minister Jin Hyeon- hwan to Uzbekistan for three days from April 7 to April 9 to discuss cooperation measures on transportation infrastructure and urban development.
The order support team will visit Tashkent , the capital of Uzbekistan , and support the acquisition of large-scale infrastructure projects such as high-speed railways and airports through interviews with the Ministry of Transport .
ㅇ Afterwards, we plan to discuss cooperation measures related to the bio cluster and smart cities through interviews with the Innovation Development Agency and the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency , and also support our companies ’ advancement into the ‘ Korean-style New City Development Project ’ with the Tashkent regional government .
□ The main schedule during the dispatch period of this order support team is as follows.
ㅇ On the morning of Tuesday, April 8 , First Vice Minister Jin Hyun-hwan met with the Vice Minister of Transportation to discuss the smooth progress of the new Tashkent – Samarkand high-speed railway line , which is currently undergoing a feasibility study ** with financial support from the Export-Import Bank of Korea’s Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF * ) .
* EDCF (Economic Development Cooperation Fund) is a policy fund established in 1987 to support industrialization and economic development in developing countries and to promote economic exchanges between Korea and these countries.
** (Extension) New line approx. 268km / (Period) ‘24.12.~’26.3. / (Consortium) Saman, Dongmyeong, Korea Railroad Corporation, Korea Railroad Corporation
ㅇ Discuss ways to expand railway cooperation, such as introducing the Korean railway system to new lines and existing tracks in the future and exporting Korean general railway vehicles .
ㅇ In addition, we plan to support winning airport business orders by publicizing the excellence of our technology and experience in the Urgench International Airport facility expansion and operation / maintenance project * .
□ In the afternoon of the same day, Vice Minister Jin will meet with Director of the Innovation Development Agency Rajabbayev and Deputy Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency Elmuratov to closely discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in urban development and smart cities .
ㅇ Our government plans to further strengthen smart city cooperation between the two countries by supporting development condition analysis and development plan establishment through the ‘ K-City Network Program * ‘ in relation to the pharmaceutical cluster being developed by the Uzbek government .
* Program to share Korean smart city technology with overseas cities
ㅇ On this day, a three-party business agreement (MOU) was signed between KIND , Innovation Development Agency , and Pharmaceutical Industry Promotion Agency, and full-scale business cooperation will be promoted based on this .
ㅇ In addition, we plan to listen to difficulties and suggestions regarding overseas business through a meeting of our construction companies that have advanced into Tashkent, Uzbekistan .
□ On the morning of Wednesday, April 9, Vice Minister Jin will meet with Tashkent Governor Mirzayev to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in urban development and smart cities , as well as the ‘ Korean-style new city development project * ’ proposed by our company .
* (Content) Promotion of a Korean-style new city (4.2km2) with medical functions in the planned New Tashkent site in eastern Tashkent
ㅇ In addition, we plan to visit the finance center BFC * that our company is currently constructing to check the progress of the project and encourage the workers on site .
* (Content) Construction of an international business center with 3 underground floors and 33 above-ground floors in Tashkent City / (Period) ‘23.10.~’25.5.
□ Jin Hyun-hwan, First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, explained, “We plan to use this dispatch of the order support team as an opportunity to strengthen the cooperative system in the urban development sector with the Uzbek government and to activate exchanges , ” and added, “We will continue to strengthen cooperation between governments so that our companies can expand their participation in the transportation infrastructure sector .”
