Checking on the well-being of elderly people living alone by delivering milk
On the morning of Tuesday, December 24, Lee Ki-il, First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, visited a multi-family housing area in Hwanghak-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, to participate in the ‘Milk Delivery Well-being Campaign’ (hereafter referred to as the ‘Milk Delivery Well-being Campaign’) as a one-day deliveryman. The purpose was to check on the well-being of the elderly living alone in the cold winter and to encourage the Milk Delivery Well-being Campaign staff.
The ‘Milk Delivery Well-being Campaign’ is a campaign that delivers milk free of charge to seniors living alone and checks on their well-being through support from private companies and ordinary citizens. It is a method of checking whether the senior has taken the milk that was delivered previously or left it as is, and contacting the local government or guardian in case of an emergency that may occur to the senior.
* As of November 24, it is being provided to 5,750 households nationwide through sponsorship from 26,000 companies and individuals.
Mr. Jeong 00, 87 years old, who received the morning milk delivery from Vice Minister Lee Ki-il on this day, warmly welcomed the Minister and expressed his gratitude for visiting in the cold weather.
Vice Minister Lee Ki-il said, “The weather is cold, but our hearts are warmer thanks to the elderly who welcomed us so warmly,” and added, “We will do our best to provide senior care so that the elderly who live alone can spend the winter a little warmer.”
