Sanyangsamdo K (k) – craze! Direct from Hamyang to China
The Korea Forest Service (Director Lim Sang-seop) announced on the 9th that Hamyang wild ginseng has begun export to China.
On this day, the Korea Forest Service held a shipping ceremony to commemorate the export of Hamyang ginseng to China in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, with about 20 people including Hamyang County Governor Jin Byeong-yeong, Hamyang Ginseng Representative Lee Jong-sang, and Hamyang County Export Association officials.
The quantity shipped this time is approximately 15 tons of processed ginseng products, such as wild ginseng concentrate and jelly sticks, with an export value of approximately 1 million dollars (KRW 1.4 billion).
Hamyang wild ginseng is a representative forest product of Hamyang-gun, grown in clean forests and boasting excellent efficacy and quality. It is already very popular with domestic consumers and is expected to establish itself as an attractive product in the Chinese market, where there is a great interest in health foods.
In addition, a completion ceremony for an export-specialized facility that systematically supports the processing, packaging, and distribution of forest products was also held on the same day. This facility, built with the support of the Korea Forest Service, is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding exports in the future, as it is capable of producing over 500 tons of processed wild ginseng products annually.
Nam Song-hee, the director of international forest cooperation at the Korea Forest Service, said, “The export of Hamyang wild ginseng to China is an important achievement that demonstrates the international competitiveness of Korean forest products,” and added, “We will further expand export support so that it can gain a reputation as a high-quality health food that is responsible for the health of people around the world.”
