‘Content Intellectual Property (IP) Market 2024’, Check Out the Infinite Expansion of K-Content
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (hereinafter MCST, Minister Yoo In-chon) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (hereinafter KOCCA, Acting President Yoo Hyun-seok) announced that they will hold the ‘Content Intellectual Property (IP) Market 2024’ from Tuesday, November 19 to Thursday, November 21 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul to link content intellectual property (IP) with other industries.
This year’s third ‘Content Intellectual Property (IP) Market’ is held to examine the status of content IP’s expansion into related products and services, and to provide opportunities to expand the industry’s economic performance. This event will be themed ‘Content IP, New Expansion Opportunities’, and 90 domestic and international companies in the content, distribution, and platform sectors are expected to participate.
On November 19, along with the opening ceremony, representatives of leading content companies from Korea and Japan will present successful cases of utilizing content IP. CEO of WIT STUDIO, which produced <Attack on Titan>, and CEO of IG Production, which produced <Ghost in the Shell>, Wada Joji, will present on the topic of ‘The Front Line of the Japanese Animation Industry’, and Lotte World CEO Choi Hong-hoon will present on the topic of ‘The Growth of the Content IP Industry and Lotte World’ based on his experience in building original theme park programs through collaboration with various contents such as <Battleground> and <Fin-de-siecle Green Apple Moisturizing Academy>.
In addition, the ‘2024 KNOCK Special Round’ investment briefing session to attract private investment will be held. A total of 7 companies in the broadcasting, comics, and technology utilization fields will make presentations to investors related to IP planning, production, and distribution, and aim to attract investment.
On November 20th and 21st, we will highlight cases of global expansion of comics and webtoons, and webtoon production companies that have successfully expanded into secondary businesses such as games and visualization will present their success stories. The program in conjunction with the Copyright Commission will also support overseas trademark appearances and K-content branding strategies for copyright-related content companies. Success stories of various startup companies utilizing content IP will also be shared.
The event will also feature a variety of programs to support corporate growth. The ‘K-Content IP Global Forum’, which covers the latest trends and strategies in the content industry, and the ‘2024 Build-up Leaders Odyssey’, which shares collaboration cases between large corporations, public institutions, and content IP companies, are also planned. A system has been established to pursue tangible results through 1:1 consultations between content companies and buyers, and to conduct consultations in advance or on-site. The number of domestic and international buyers registered before the event is 635, and the number of confirmed consultations is approximately 1,000.
Yoon Yang-soo, director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Content Policy Bureau, said, “K-content can expand not only within the content industry, but also into various fields such as food and beverage, fashion, and amusement parks,” and added, “We will support the ‘Content Intellectual Property (IP) Market’ to become the foundation for K-content to grow further in the global market based on this potential for expansion.”
