‘Luxury Crafts’ Encountered in Everyday Life… ‘Craft Trend Fair’ to be Held on the 12th of Next Month
The ‘2024 Craft Trend Fair’, Korea’s largest craft fair, will open in Seoul next month.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Foundation announced on the 21st that they will hold the ‘2024 Craft Trend Fair’ at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul from the 12th to the 15th of next month.
The event, now in its 19th year, showcases a variety of craft cultures under the theme of ‘daily luxury.’
‘Everyday luxury’ refers to crafts that breathe closely with each individual’s life and contain everyday value. In this event, about 280 companies including individual craft artists, workshops, domestic and foreign institutions, and galleries will participate to introduce various works.
This year’s event will feature craft-related organizations and galleries from five countries, including Italy, Taiwan, and Japan, introducing their respective crafts and also providing insight into craft trends in the Asian region.
There will also be a seminar to discuss ideas and knowledge for the development of the craft market.
Director Jang Dong-gwang said, “I hope that this will become a festival that many craft lovers can enjoy together and a valid fair that explores Korean craft culture and sustainable craft forms.”
