Ministry of National Defense-Starbucks Sign Business Agreement to Support Welfare of Soldiers
On September 6 (Friday), Vice Minister of National Defense Kim Seon-ho and Starbucks Korea Strategy Planning Director Shin Dong-woo signed a business agreement at the Ministry of National Defense building to support welfare of soldiers and employment of soldiers scheduled for discharge.
Starbucks participated in the Armed Forces Job Fair for the first time in 2022, and has continued to support soldiers for three consecutive years to strengthen their employment capabilities and help them settle into society stably.
This agreement was signed after a consensus was formed to provide additional welfare benefits to soldiers who faithfully perform their military service, following support for the military job fair.
According to the agreement, the two organizations plan to carry out various support activities, such as providing beverages when visiting military units, conducting job fairs, and conducting job counseling.
Shin Dong-woo, head of Starbucks’ strategic planning division, said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the soldiers and hope that this will be a meaningful collaboration that will provide practical help in strengthening their employment capabilities before discharge,” adding, “Starbucks will continue to do its best to discover and support heroes who are dedicated in various fields.”
Vice Minister of National Defense Kim Seon-ho said, “I am very grateful that the company is actively supporting and providing welfare benefits to soldiers who are dedicated to national defense,” adding, “I hope that this agreement will contribute to boosting the morale of soldiers in remote areas who may be excluded from cultural benefits by providing Starbucks beverages.”
