Korea Communications Commission’s Position on Apple’s Decision to Launch ‘Find My’ Service in Korea
The Korea Communications Commission (Acting Chairman Kim Tae-gyu, hereinafter referred to as the “KCC”) welcomed Apple’s announcement on its blog Newsroom on Thursday, September 5 that it would introduce the “Find My” service, which had been restricted in Korea until now, in the spring of 2025.
While Apple’s ‘Find My’ service has been restricted in Korea, users have been consistently requesting the service’s domestic launch. In response, the Korea Communications Commission has relayed users’ requests to Apple and has been continuously discussing the timing of the service’s introduction and related matters.
Kim Tae-gyu, the acting director, said, “We expect that Apple’s decision will greatly improve the convenience of domestic users, and the KCC will work closely with Apple to ensure that users can use the service stably,” adding, “We will also continue to work to vitalize the location information industry and protect location information.”
