Full-fledged promotion of ‘visiting education’ for ‘safe delivery’
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Chairman Ahn Jong-ju, hereinafter referred to as “the Corporation”) and Woowa Youth (CEO Kim Byeong-woo), who are in charge of Baedal Minjok logistics service, are conducting ‘on-site rider safety training’ for two-wheeled vehicle delivery workers. This training, conducted in cooperation with the Corporation and Woowa Youth, will expand the existing safety training centered on the metropolitan area and will be conducted six times starting August 27 for delivery workers in the Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan areas.
Woowa Youth has been operating Baemin Rider School in Gyeonggi-do since 2021, providing an education program that includes indoor theory education and driving practice. However, considering that it is difficult for two-wheeled vehicle delivery workers from other regions to visit training centers located in the metropolitan area in person, this time, in collaboration with the Corporation, we jointly operated ‘on-site rider safety education’.
In this training, realistic safety training will be provided through a combination of theoretical training and virtual reality (VR) experience on the topic of motorcycle accident cases and accident prevention measures. In addition, Woowa Youth provides practical training, including how to handle traffic accidents, safe delivery know-how, and the basics of two-wheeled vehicle inspection and maintenance.
Meanwhile, in addition to the ‘visiting rider safety education’, the corporation provides free internet training courses for special types of workers to prevent accidents for motorcycle delivery workers, and provides motorcycle safety and health training in various forms such as virtual reality (VR), short-form videos, and leaflets. Educational materials are provided online.
In particular, starting from 2021, we are operating an occupation-specific platform disaster prevention system that provides about 240 types of safety and health information, and as of August 2024, we are providing information on accident cases, safety rules for each weather situation, etc. through the delivery worker work app linked to the system. Safety and health information was provided approximately 20.2 million times (cumulative).
Jong-ju Ahn, Chairman of the Corporation, said, “We hope that delivery workers actively utilize the various two-wheeled vehicle safety and health materials such as virtual reality (VR), short-form videos, and teaching plans provided by the Corporation.” He added, “To protect delivery workers and reduce motorcycle accidents, the Corporation “I will do my best,” he said.
