Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to strengthen cooperation in the medical device field between Korea and Vietnam to ease exports of K-medical devices
In order to support the expansion of exports of K-medical devices to Vietnam, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Minister Oh Yoo-kyung) held a ‘regular director-level bilateral meeting between medical device regulatory authorities’ with the Vietnam Medical Devices Agency on June 13 and held a ‘2024 Vietnam K-medical devices’ meeting. He announced that he would attend the exhibition to promote the excellent safety management system of domestic medical devices.
At this meeting, the enactment of Vietnam’s 「Medical Device Act」 and the promotion of an official development assistance (ODA) project to establish a ‘Vietnamese medical device management system’ based on information and communication technology (ICT) with the aim of resolving export regulatory barriers through medical device regulatory diplomacy. Plans will be discussed.
In addition, at the seminar, which is a side event of the ‘2024 Vietnam K-Medical Device Exhibition (2nd K-Med Expo)’, they plan to present on the excellence of the domestic medical device quality management system and visit the promotional booths of participating domestic companies. .
Lee Nam-hee, Director of the Medical Device Safety Bureau, said, “The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is actively helping export excellent Korean medical devices by promoting the K-medical device mega project,” and added, “We are strengthening the cooperation system with regulatory agencies in other countries in addition to Vietnam to export K-medical devices.” “We will support this to increase,” he said.
