18 billion won in support for revitalizing the textile and fashion industry

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Deok-geun, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) announced (2.17) this year’s “Improvement of Textile and Fashion Technology and Establishment of Fashion Industry Knowledge Base” project to strengthen the global competitiveness of the textile and fashion industry.

This year’s project will focus on promoting eco-friendly transformation in the textile and fashion industry, expanding AI and digital infrastructure, and securing export competitiveness, and plans to support 15 projects with 18 billion won. (See attached for details)

Through this, we will support the establishment of a sustainable circular ecosystem in the textile industry, such as the use of eco-friendly materials and expansion of recycling, and promote projects to implement the “Strategy to Strengthen the Competitiveness of the Textile and Fashion Industry” announced by the government in August of last year, such as starting the development of AI-based solutions to shorten the design period in the fashion industry and supporting the establishment of automated facilities. We also plan to intensively support obtaining overseas certifications, participating in exhibitions and export consultations, and supporting the production of prototypes to respond to the rapidly changing export environment.

Detailed business announcements can be found on the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy website (www.motie.go.kr), the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (www.kiat.or.kr), and the Subsidy Integrated Portal (www.bojo.go.kr). Companies and institutions wishing to participate in the project must submit applications to the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Subsidy Integrated Portal from March 4 to March 18.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to continuously support the eco-friendly and digital transformation and high added value of the textile and fashion industry by promoting this project in parallel with research and development (R&D) investments such as the recently announced “F2F (Fiber To Fiber) Recycling Core Technology Development Project for Polyester Composite Fibers (KRW 35.2 billion, 2025-2029).”
