Ministry of Foreign Affairs Global Youth Dialogue with Faker as Keynote Speaker Ends Successfully
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 2024 Global Innovation Future Dialogue on the theme of ‘Global Youth Dialogue for a Better Tomorrow’ in Seoul on Wednesday, November 20.
Ambassador for Public Diplomacy Hong Seok-in, through reading the opening remarks of Vice Minister Kang In-sun, said that he hopes to discover the diverse characteristics and potential of youth culture at this future dialogue and to find new perspectives and clues to overcome the global challenges we face through the participation of various speakers.
Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok), who took the stage as the keynote speaker, said that after his professional debut, he only aimed to win games and would get angry after losing, but he was able to learn and grow through the process of failure he experienced afterwards, and conveyed the idea that failure is also a part of success. He also mentioned the humility of not thinking that only oneself is right and wanting to learn from others, and hoped that young people would have passion and not be afraid of failure when doing what they love in life, which received a great response from the audience.
In her special address (video), Jayatma Wickramanayake, Senior Policy Advisor at UN Women, introduced the activities of young people who are responding to global challenges based on diversity, resilience, and innovation. She also urged young people to have the courage to face challenges, the ambition for a better future, and the unity to lead change.
In the three sessions that followed, speakers from various fields, including academia, the cultural and artistic community, businesspeople, and social activists, shared their experiences and communicated with each other on the topics of △Cultural characteristics and potential of the youth generation, △Youth generation culture responding to global challenges, and △Youth generation culture responding to global challenges.
This year’s ‘Future Dialogue for Global Innovation’ is evaluated as an opportunity to analyze various aspects of youth generation culture and discover possibilities for a better future within it, while also seeking new approaches to problem solving through direct communication among youth regarding overcoming global challenges.
