The Korea Forest Service (Director Lim Sang-seop) announced that it participated in the ‘2024 K-Food Buyer Invitation Export Consultation’ held at COEX in Seoul from the 20th to the 22nd, promoted the excellence of Korean forest products to 90 overseas purchasing companies from 24 countries around the world, and expanded opportunities to enter overseas markets.

At this export consultation, the Korea Forest Service operated a forest products promotion hall and exhibited major forest products such as persimmons, chestnuts, jujubes, magnolia berries, and wild ginseng. In particular, it introduced wild vegetable bibimbap, shiitake mushroom snacks, dried persimmons, and jujube caramel, captivating overseas buyers who are interested in vegan ingredients.

In addition, by disseminating content containing recipes for Korean forest products, such as ‘Chestnut Tiramisu’, which was recently introduced on the globally popular cooking show ‘Black and White Chef’, to overseas consumers in the US, Vietnam, and China, the awareness of Korean forest products was raised.

Meanwhile, the Korea Forest Service operated a forest products promotion booth at the Tokyo Expo in March and the Hong Kong Expo in August, supporting domestic companies in concluding export contracts worth approximately USD 1.36 million.

Nam Song-hee, director of international forest cooperation at the Korea Forest Service, said, “We are leading the K-FOOD craze by strengthening the national brand and quality reliability of our country’s forest products,” adding, “We will develop various recipes that reflect the tastes of overseas consumers and strengthen promotion and marketing to increase the global market share of Korean forest products.”
