Ministry of Government Legislation spreads Korea’s advanced legal system experience to Indonesia

The Ministry of Government Legislation (Director Lee Wan-gyu) visited Indonesia for 4 days and 2 nights from August 6 to 9 to share Korea’s advanced legal system experience. This visit was at the invitation of the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, and was attended by executives from the Ministry of Legislation with extensive legal experience, including Yoon Kang-wook, Director of Legal Coordination Policy, to discuss legal exchange and cooperation issues between the two countries.

On the 7th, Kang-wook Yoon, Director of Legislation Coordination Policy, attended the ‘Best Practice Seminar on Korea’s Investment and Social Welfare Laws’ held by the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat and delivered a congratulatory speech. He said that he hopes that through this seminar, Korea and Indonesia will understand each other’s economic investment and social welfare legislation status, and that cooperation between the Ministry of Government Legislation and the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat will be further strengthened. Next, Legislative Review Officer Choi Jong-jin gave a presentation on the history of Korea’s social security legislation and major social security laws, and Legislative Officer Kim Hye-jeong gave a presentation on the Framework Act on Administrative Regulations and Korea’s regulatory innovation, respectively, and conducted a Q&A with participants.

On the 8th, the visiting team visited the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat and had a meeting with Purnomo Suchipto, Assistant Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. At this event, the Ministry of Government Legislation invited the head of the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat to the 12th Asian Legislation Expert Meeting to be held in November, and requested the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat’s active cooperation in forming a ‘consultative body between agencies responsible for Asian legal affairs’. The Indonesian Cabinet Office responded positively.

On the same day, the visiting delegation met with the Director of the Legislation Department of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia to discuss the Indonesian Legal Information System Official Development Assistance (ODA) project currently in progress and the signing of a subsidiary agreement between the Ministry of Government Legislation and the Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, and agreed to strengthen close cooperation between the two organizations in the future. did it

Legal Policy Coordinator Kang-wook Yoon said, “Indonesia is an important country with which Korea has a special strategic partnership,” and added, “Through this visit, we will spread Korea’s advanced legal system to Indonesia and build closer cooperative relationships within the Asian region.” “It became an opportunity,” he emphasized.

The Ministry of Government Legislation will continue to actively spread Korea’s excellent legal system to the Asian region and continue to expand legal exchange and cooperation to find ways for Asian countries to jointly respond to international changes such as climate change and the development of artificial intelligence technology. He said he had a plan.
