(Samchuk= Yonhap News) Reporter Bae Yeon-ho = Education, culture and tourism infrastructure in Dogye-eup, Samcheok, Gangwon Province, which is a coal mine area, will be greatly expanded.
The new educational, cultural, and tourism infrastructure in Dogye-eup includes glass guesthouses, galleries, multi-education researchers, lifelong learning centers, small movie theaters, beauty markets, and villages built under the sky.
The glass guest house and gallery, which remodeled the coal mine, were completed in July with a total project cost of 9.6 billion won.
The complex education research center with a total project cost of 7.8 billion won, one basement floor and three floors above the ground will be used as a mobile class space at Kangwon National University’s Dogye Campus from next year.
The lifelong learning center, equipped with offices, classrooms, gyms, music rooms, and cooking classes, will provide customized education to residents.’

In March next year, a small movie theater with 80 seats will open.
In the first half of next year, 10 billion won will be invested to start operation of the Beauty Market, which has a complex store, experience center, education room, and manufacturing lab.
The village built under the sky, which was created by investing 1.9 billion won in total project expenses, will begin operations in March next year.
In addition, from next year, the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, which will invest 91.7 billion won in total project costs, will be carried out.
Samcheok Mayor Kim Yang-ho said on the 30th, “If these projects are operated in earnest from next year, we expect to increase the income of local residents as well as increase the quality of life. We will do our best to create a vibrant community, including successful urban regeneration projects in the metropolitan area.”
