Minister Lee Young visits the French cosmetics cluster ‘Cosmetic Valley’ to discuss cooperation
On the 19th, local time, Minister Lee Young-young visited the Cosmetic Valley, a cosmetics cluster in Chartres, France, to discuss ways to cooperate in the beauty sector between Korea and France.
Established in 1994, Cosmetic Valley is the world’s first and largest beauty industry industry-university research cluster. In Cosmetic Valley, 8,600 researchers from universities and research institutes are operating R&D and networks in all fields related to cosmetics, from development of raw materials for cosmetics to production and distribution.
In addition, about 100 French cosmetics companies such as Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), L’Oreal, and Guerlain are active as members in Cosmetic Valley.
Minister of SMEs and Startups Lee met with Marc-Antoine Jamet, Chairman of Cosmetic Valley and Secretary General of LVMH Group, Guillaume Kasvarian, a member of the National Assembly, and Jean-Pierre Georges Sartre, Mayor, to discuss ways to cooperate with small businesses and SMEs in the cosmetic field between Korea and France.
Minister Lee said, “As Korea has world-class competitiveness in the cosmetics field, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will continue to discover cooperative projects with France that are mutually beneficial and can produce concrete results, and will spare no support so that small businesses and SMEs can enter the global market.” said.
Meanwhile, in Korea, the International Beauty Industry Trade Association is active as a member of the global cosmetic cluster GCC (Global Cosmetic Cluster) along with Cosmetic Valley, and hosts and attends various events with GCC every year.
