Back on stage! Application for participation in the King of Workers Song Festival

The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service (Chairman Jong-gil Park) announced that the ‘46th Workers’ Song Festival’, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service, and KBS, will be held as a king of kings competition with previous finalists.
The Workers’ Song Festival is a part of the Workers’ Culture and Arts Festival, a cultural and arts festival held annually with workers as the main characters, and was established in May 1985, and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Also, this year is a meaningful year for the Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service as it is the 30th anniversary of its founding. Therefore, the 46th Workers’ Song Festival will be held as a special King of Kings competition to look back on the footsteps of the Workers’ Song Festival so far and to make it an opportunity to faithfully fulfill its role as a stepping stone for achieving work-life balance and make a leap forward as a representative festival loved by the people.
Anyone who has won a final at the Workers’ Song Festival from 1985 to 2024 can participate in the Workers’ Song Festival King of Kings competition, regardless of genre, including popular songs, pop songs, vocal music, and folk songs. Bonus points will be awarded for participating with original songs.
Applications for participation will be accepted through the Labor Welfare Net (welfare.comwel.or.kr) until February 28th, the main competition will be held at KBS Hall in Yeouido on April 11th, and the heated competition scene will be aired on KBS 1TV on May 1st, Labor Day.
Park Jong-gil, chairman of the Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service, said, “This year’s King of Kings competition is a place to reexamine the best moments of past worker song festivals and cheer on the passion and talent of workers, so I ask for the public’s interest.” He added, “The service will continue to do its best to improve the quality of life of workers by activating their culture.”
