Korean Air’s weight measurement will be held at Gimpo Airport and Incheon Airport from today (28th) until next month.

Korean Air’s weight measurement will be implemented from today to reduce fuel costs by measuring the standard weight of passengers. Passenger standard weight is the sum of the weight of the passenger and the weight of the cabin baggage, and Korean Air’s weight is measured right before boarding.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s aircraft weight and balance management standards, domestic airlines must measure the standard weight of passengers at least every five years and average it. Prior to Korean Air’s weight measurement, domestic LCCs such as T’way and Jeju Air also measured passengers’ weight in 2018.

Passengers on domestic flights at Gimpo Airport will be weighed from the 28th today to the 6th of next month, and passengers on international flights at Incheon Airport will be weighed by Korean Air from the 8th to the 19th of next month.

If you do not want to be weighed by Korean Air, passengers can inform the staff in front of the gate before boarding without panic. The weight measurement data of Korean Air weighed passengers is collected anonymously.

In addition to Korean Air, the national flag carrier of Korea, Asiana Airlines plans to start measuring Asiana weights from the end of this year.
