In Yecheon-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, which has been declared a special disaster area, reports of heavy rain that occurred this month will be received at the Eup and Myeon Administrative Welfare Center until the 31st of this month.

On the 25th, Yecheon-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it would receive reports of damage from heavy rain in special disaster areas, and county officials will investigate the current situation based on the report. About 40 county officials plan to investigate the current state of damage in the special disaster area, including damage and flooding of houses, flooding of farmland and plastic greenhouses, flooding and damage to roads, and loss of village access roads, at the reported site.

In Yecheon-gun, as of the 24th, damage to public facilities such as 63 roads, 64 local rivers, and 34 water and sewage systems was confirmed, and restoration of damage in special disaster areas is in progress. In addition to damage to public facilities, loss and flooding of 196 houses and 1,203 hectares of agricultural land in Yecheon-gun, a special disaster area, were also confirmed.

In addition, on the 23rd, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it would implement support measures for information communication, broadcasting, and radio waves in accordance with related laws such as the Telecommunications Business Act and the Radio Waves Act as part of easing the economic burden and supporting livelihood stabilization of victims in 13 regions nationwide, including Yecheon-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, which was recently declared a special disaster area due to heavy rain, and Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to promote reductions in fees for telecommunication services such as mobile phones, wired and Internet phones, and high-speed Internet, as well as paid broadcasting services such as IPTV, cable TV, and satellite broadcasting, for special disaster areas.

Hwang Jae-geuk, head of the safety and disaster department, said, “We ask for your cooperation so that even small damages are not missed.” Science and Technology Minister Lee Jong-ho said, “We will do our best to provide the support that the Ministry of Science and ICT can provide as quickly as possible for local residents affected by this heavy rain.”
