Citizens visiting the site of 
the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster at Muan International Airport in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do on the afternoon of the 30th 

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters situation team announced the response to the Jeju Air passenger plane accident as follows.

As of 14:30 on December 30, the accident response status regarding the Jeju Air Flight 2216 (Bangkok-Muan) accident that occurred at approximately 09:03 on Sunday, December 29 is as follows.

ㅇ (Identity Verification) 146 of the deceased have been identified, and 33 are being identified through DNA analysis and fingerprint collection (Prosecutor’s Office and National Forensic Service)

The victims whose identities have been confirmed will be transported to the funeral home in consultation with their families.

ㅇ (Accident investigation) Control communication data was collected and interviews with related controllers were conducted, and the black box is scheduled to arrive at the Gimpo Airport Test Analysis Center around 3 PM to check its status.

ㅇ (Integrated Support Center) Briefing on accident recovery situation*, interview with representative of bereaved family members, identification of deceased and notification of bereaved family members, accommodation and funeral support, support for entry of foreign bereaved family members, etc.

The Integrated Support Center will brief you on the current status of the accident and support for the bereaved families.

ㅇ (Comprehensive investigation) A comprehensive investigation of the maintenance history of major systems such as aircraft engines and landing gears was conducted for 6 airlines operating the same type of aircraft as the accident aircraft (total of 101 aircraft*) (‘24.12.30. -‘25.1.3.)
