In his opening remarks, Jeong In-gyo, head of the Korea-U.S. Trade Negotiation Headquarters, emphasized, “It is still difficult to predict the specific policies of the new Trump administration, but in order to stably manage Korea-U.S. trade relations, it is important to thoroughly review the pending trade issues discussed between the two sides so far and seek response measures,” and asked for cooperation from the relevant ministries for this purpose.
He also said, “As the current Korea-U.S. trade issues have been managed relatively stably, we will continue to respond closely at the government level to ease uncertainty for our companies and ensure that a mutually beneficial Korea-U.S. trade relationship continues.”
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to respond thoroughly and calmly to ensure that pending trade issues between Korea and the U.S. do not become issues during the transition period to the new Trump administration.
