In particular, the heavy snowfall warning for the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions has been raised to caution, and ▲ Gwangju and western Jeollanam-do are expected to accumulate 5 to 15 cm of snow ▲ eastern Jeollabuk-do 3 to 10 cm ▲ Sejong and the inland Chungcheongnam-do 3 to 8 cm ▲ 2 to 7 cm of snow accumulation in northeastern Jeollanam-do. do. This snow is expected to be heavier and more likely to accumulate as it retains more moisture than average. After completing the road snow removal work, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will thoroughly carry out follow-up snow removal on back roads and alleys, and remove snow around bus stops to ensure that local residents can use the snow removal agent quickly. Additionally, the Korea Meteorological Administration announced that a cold wave warning will be issued throughout Seoul as of 9 p.m. on the 20th. A cold wave warning is issued when the minimum morning temperature is below -15 degrees for more than two days or when the temperature drops rapidly and major damage is expected. This cold wave shows the characteristics of an Arctic cold wave, with high-latitude cold air flowing directly into Korea due to the influence of the pressure ridge formed in the Ural Mountains.

The 21st and 22nd are expected to be the ‘peak’ of this cold, and the morning temperature will be 5 to 10 degrees lower than that day. The morning temperature in the central inland is expected to be around -15 degrees Celsius, and in the central coast and southern inland it is expected to be around -10 degrees Celsius.
