Helping exports of excellent SMEs businesses… World Korean Business Convention opens at 5 pm

The World Korean Trade Association (World Okta), the largest economic organization for overseas Koreans, will hold a business festival on the 24th to help excellent small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in the Gyeonggi Province export and find ways to coexist with their home countries.

World Okta will be holding the ’27th World Korean Business Convention’ at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province from this day to the 27th.

It is co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, and Yonhap News, a national news agency, and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Office of Overseas Koreans.

About 1,000 people, including Korean businesspeople active in 143 cities and 68 countries around the world, next-generation entrepreneurs, domestic small and medium-sized businesses, and officials from related organizations, are expected to participate in the competition.

The opening ceremony will be held at the exhibition hall on the first floor of Suwon Convention Center at 5 pm on this day.

Prior to the opening ceremony, a global marketer workshop, an overseas job fair, and an autumn seminar co-hosted by the International Trade Strategy Institute under World Okta and the World Korean Economic Forum of the National Assembly will be held.

World Okta inspects the business status and shares improvements through workshops for ‘global marketers’, the personnel responsible for overseas branching projects.

56 companies from 19 countries will participate in the expo targeting young people living in Korea who wish to work abroad. Recruitment fields include general office work, sales, logistics, IT, design, tourism, and service, and programs such as mock interviews and global special lectures are provided.

The theme of the fall seminar is ‘Specific strategies and tactics for entering Southeast Asia.’

It is expected that there will be opinions that we should turn to ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) to overcome the war between Russia and Ukraine and the difficult trade environment of trade with China.

On the 25th, an export consultation and trade show will be held to support exports of small and medium-sized businesses from their home country by utilizing the global Korean businessman network.

At the export consultation meeting, 60 small and medium-sized businesses from Gyeonggi-do and Suwon-si will participate in matching consultations with Korean buyers from 68 countries around the world.

The trade show is held for the second time since last year with the purpose of developing export channels and expanding networks among World Okta member companies that have served as export distributors for excellent domestic companies. Twelve trade committees participate to promote products from 70 member companies.

On the 26th, the last day, the regular general meeting will be held to elect the 22nd executives, including the next president, chairman of the board, and auditor. It ends with a closing ceremony and farewell dinner hosted by Yonhap News.

Founded in 1981, World Okta has over 7,000 regular members and 27,000 next-generation business leaders in 141 branches around the world. Every year, the World Representative Conference and Export Consulting Conference are held in the spring, and the World Korean Business Convention is held in the fall.
