The head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min) emphasized to relevant ministries and local governments to mobilize all available manpower and resources to minimize damage caused by heavy rain, and requested the following key management items.
□ In the event of a dangerous situation such as a sudden rise in river water levels, use all possible media such as disaster text messages and forecasting/warning facilities to quickly spread the situation.
□ To prevent casualties from slopes or embankment collapses in sparsely populated mountainous areas or reservoirs, strengthen surveillance centered on town, township, and district officials, directors, and bank managers.
□ Preemptively control access to vulnerable areas and facilities that are likely to be damaged by heavy rain, such as mountains, steep slopes, riversides, low-lying areas, and semi-basement houses, and evacuate nearby residents.
□ Thoroughly implement prior control according to control standards on roads vulnerable to flooding, such as underpasses and riverbed roads, and actively provide guidance on detours.
□ Make every effort to provide relief support, including providing convenience facilities, daily necessities, and meals, to ensure that residents in evacuation sites do not experience any inconvenience in their lives.
