Standardization of natural material arrowroot leaf and functional raw materials completed
The National Honam Biological Resources Center (Director Ryu Tae-cheol) under the Ministry of Environment recently announced that it has completed the standardization of functional raw materials for arrowroot leaves, which are essential for the industrialization of natural materials.
Starting in 2023, this institution will participate in the ‘Multi-Ministry National Life Research Resources Advancement Project’ and carry out the tasks of ‘Research on materialization of island wild natural products (indicators/functional ingredients)’ and ‘Project for securing and producing information on island wild natural products’ to obtain arrowroot leaves. Achieved standardization of functional raw materials.
Through this study, the National Honam Biological Resources Center secured the reliability of the material of arrowroot leaves, traditionally known as brown leaves, and maintained a consistent quality.
He said that the standardization of functional raw materials from arrowroot leaves is expected to promote industrialization, such as the development of health functional foods.
In addition, he said that he plans to continue research to progress to the product production stage through the industrialization of related technologies, and to pursue measures to further increase the value of Korea’s wildlife resources through standardization of raw materials.
Choi Gyeong-min, director of the Island Wildlife Advancement Research Group at the National Honam Biological Resources Center, said, “We will continue to do our best to secure useful information for the sustainable use of island wildlife, including kudzu, and to contribute to the development of the biological industry by creating new value from wildlife resources.” “I will do everything,” he said.
