The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Kang Do-hyung) announced that it will hold the ‘2024 Marine Bio Expo’ at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul from Wednesday, June 26 to Thursday, June 27. The theme of this expo is ‘Marine Bio, an Endless Journey of Discovery’, and it will be an opportunity to explore the development potential and future prospects of the marine bio industry.

The Marine Bio Expo provides a special opportunity for industry, academia, and research institutes to gather to share the latest achievements in marine bio technology and product development and discuss the direction of industry development. On the first day, a forum with the theme of ‘Overcoming humanity’s crisis with cutting-edge marine bio’ will be held, and major topics will include the use of synthetic biology, a core technology in the marine bio field, and sustainable microalgae cultivation.

On the second day, a corporate investment briefing session and a technology transfer briefing session will be held in succession to stimulate investment in the marine bio sector. In addition, product exhibitions and technology presentations by major domestic marine bio companies and research results exhibitions by public institutions such as the National Marine Biological Resources Center will be held in parallel, providing an opportunity to experience and evaluate the current status and future potential of the industry.

Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung said, “This expo is a good opportunity to reaffirm that the marine bio industry goes beyond simple economic value creation and can play an important role in solving various problems facing humanity, such as climate change and food shortages.” “We plan to continue to discover and support policies for the sustainable development of the marine bio industry in the future,” he said.
