The Public Procurement Service (Public Procurement Service Director Lim Ki-geun) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan announced that they will hold a bilateral meeting for mutual development of public procurement in Tashkent on April 11 (11:00 local time) and sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

This visit to Uzbekistan by Director Lim Ki-geun is a follow-up to the bilateral meeting on public procurement cooperation with Deputy Director Gulnora Rakhimova at the ADB Asia-Pacific High-Level Policy Workshop held in Korea in September last year.

The main contents of the business agreement are   sharing information on laws and public procurement systems including electronic procurement,   providing information support necessary for establishing and improving electronic procurement systems,  and ➌ activating corporate participation in the public procurement market, and it is expected that cooperation between the two countries will become visible through this.

Lim Ki-geun, the Commissioner of the Public Procurement Service, shared his experience in the next-generation national market construction project that began its pilot operation in January and presented a blueprint for Uzbekistan’s e-procurement development roadmap. He also promised to share best practices in procurement administration between the two countries through experiences necessary for building and improving e-procurement systems, sharing e-procurement operation knowledge, and strengthening capabilities.

Meanwhile, the two countries have also agreed to actively cooperate in the verification project of Korean innovative products. This year, the Public Procurement Service is promoting the verification project of innovative products in 29 countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia, with a scale of 14 billion won.

In Uzbekistan, the border guards will be using the multipurpose modular light broadcast drone on a trial basis for monitoring important facilities, disasters, and forest fires, thereby confirming the technological excellence of our company and striving to support sales channels.

Lim Ki-geun, the Commissioner of the Public Procurement Service, said, “Following the business agreement with Kyrgyzstan last year, full-scale exports of the electronic procurement system are underway this year, and with this business agreement with Uzbekistan as a starting point, we plan to further expand the public procurement cooperation system in Central Asia,” adding, “We will continue to cooperate with Uzbekistan in the future to build a new public procurement Silk Road in Central Asia.”
